Some are well versed with skincare routine but some are not. This post is for them who actually should start taking care of their skin before it’s too late. Your skin reflects your health inside and outside. Good skin, high confidence it goes like this.
You might have heard skin care routine includes three steps CTM but for me, it’s always CTMS (cleansing, toning, moisturizing, sunscreen). There are some easy steps one should include in their daily routine twice. It goes for every type of skin but with the right products.
Cleanse your face in the morning and before bed with a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water so that your skin doesn’t dry out. Cleansing helps to remove sweat, oil, dirt and other pollutants that your skin naturally collects throughout the day and night.
“Remember your hands are always clean before cleansing your face. Always use your fingers in an upward circular motion to prevent wrinkles.”
Many of us are not aware of the benefits of using toner so we always end up skipping this step and find it unnecessary. You should apply toner right after cleansing your skin because it helps to remove any residue left after cleansing or after removing makeup. You just have to drench a cotton pad/ball with an “alcohol-free” toner and wipe upwards, starting with your neck. Also, toner helps to minimize the appearance of pores.
Most important!! You definitely can’t miss this step be it for any type of skin (dry, oily or combination). Moisturizing helps to keep your skin hydrated and this hydration gives your skin a smooth appearance. Choose a moisturizer according to your skin type so that your skin gets the utmost benefits. Gently rub the moisturizer in an upward motion and give it time to absorb into your skin.
“Oily skin type should go for lighter moisturizers that can be in the gel form and dry skin type should go for heavier and richer creams/lotions.”
We all know that the UV rays coming out of the sun is the leading cause of skin damage and skin cancer. That’s why it is important to wear sunscreen/sunblock with an SPF of at least 15 before stepping out in the sun. Or, one should wear sunscreen with a higher SPF if sun exposure is heavy throughout the day.
” You need to re-apply your sunscreen every few hours as it wears off.”
| Weekly Routine : EXFOLIATE|
Exfoliating helps to remove the dead skin cells that have accumulated in our pores. Exfoliation should be done after toning and before moisturizing. This step should be done once or twice a week according to your skin type. If you struggle with blackheads, acne or breakouts, then this can’t be skipped but only once or twice a week otherwise, it can irritate your skin which can lead to more breakouts.
